Studio

AYZACO is a Washington, DC and Richmond, VA based studio focusing on funktional objects designed and hand crafted by Ayana Zaire Cotton. Her work ranges from ceramics, textiles, and fashion rooted in an ecowomanist context and research practice. AYZACO is a continuation of her previous brand Zaire Studio, a fashion project and platform which researched the history of cotton and black women's labor. Picking up where she left off, Ayana presents AYZACO with a renewed design direction rooted in black feminist ecology, abolitionist technologies, and indigenous land-based craft practices.
